I’ve been wondering, why Dolls and Then Some? Why this blog? Why should you read it? Why Why WHY? *faints*
Actually, I’ve been following The Daily Post (http://dailypost.wordpress.com) and they have started doing Blogging101 and Writing101. I decided to follow and (hopefully) complete the Blogging101 and our first assignment was to talk about WHY. What our blog does and WHY. (you can find the actual post at http://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_assignment/101-introduce/)
Well, Dolls and Then Some was birthed into my brain back in, oh, December 2011 maybe. It was whenever I discovered the blog American Girl Fan (http://www.americangirlfan.com). It was the first ever doll blog I found and I was FLOORED. It was amazing, the notion that you could BLOG about DOLLS. (The only blog I’d read BEFORE that was one done by my dad for work and another one done by one of my mom’s friends.)
Well, these a days, I read 6 blogs on a daily basis. Here they are, for your enjoyment:
-Doll Diaries (www.dolldiaries.com)
This blog is up in there for the scoop and the crafts. The crafts are EVERYWHERE and they are FABULOUS to do!
-Toy Box Philosopher (http://www.toyboxphilosopher.com)
Some of the BEST reviews I have EVER read. Very thorough.
-American Girl Fan (http://www.americangirlfan.com)
Has some great variety, and plenty of hairstyles!
-Never Grow Up (http://nevergrowupdollguide.blogspot.com)
I love this mom’s perspective on dolls of all kinds.
-Delightful World of Dolls (http://delightfulworldofdolls.com)
Epic photo shoots and photo stories!
-Fun With AG Fan (http://funwithagfan.blogspot.com)
They do tons of giveaways and have fabulous crafts!
-Living a Doll’s Life (http://livingadollslife.blogspot.com)
This is THE BEST SCOOP EVER. The SCOOP IS AMAZING. It’s perfect!
I aspire to be as great and fabulous as those blogs. And if there’s anything I’ve learned from living my life, being awesome, and surviving a million apocalypses (Mayan calendar, anyone?), it’s that the only way to succeed is hard work, pure and simple. I’m dedicated, folks. Let’s do this.
I also wanted to talk about the assignment right after that, which talks about explaining our title and tag line.
Here’s the thought process behind Dolls and Then Some:
Me: Dad, what about The Chopstick Princess’s Guide to Dolls?
Dad: Too long, Shai.
Me: Okay, what about….. 3 Dolls and Counting?
Dad: Oh, how about Dolls and Then Some?
Me: Perfect! Dad, you’re a genius!!!
Dad: I know.
Haha, my dad and I are great. Here’s the idea behind the tagline:
Dad: Okay, it says here you need a tagline. What should it be?
Me: How about, One Girl, Some Dolls, and an Obsession with Harry Potter?
Dad: No. Be serious! (speaks as he types) Dolls, Doll Fashion, and Doll Adventures?
Me: Sounds good.
Dad: I try.
(my dad is the main one helping me out on blog stuff, so he’s been the one helping me figure out how WordPress works. My mom is also pretty fabulous, as she edits my posts).
Well, folks, there! I have completed the assignments for Blogging101 so far! Woot woot!
